A brand-new, HUGE Whole Foods is opening in Plymouth Meeting on January 12th!
Have you seen the new (huge) restaurant being constructed behind Pumpernicks and Baja Fresh? (In front of Costco in North Wales)
Did you know that Horsham has it's own sustainable farm, offering fresh, local and organic produce and a Local Foods Market?
The Ambler Theater presents: A celebration of Giving!
There are some amazing (and free!) Jewish crafts, cooking, and more from December 1-16 in Ambler.
I have been waiting to see what stores were opening in the vacant areas in the new Horsham shopping center (where the Babies R Us and Toys R Us is, as well as the new Corner Bakery). Recently, a new Verizon Wireless store opened (without a tech support center, only sales), and scheduled to open are a Great Clips store, an Ulta store, and Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza.
Plymouth Meeting Mall shoppers will find extra fun and some unique gift ideas this holiday season thanks to a partnership between the mall and Please Touch Museum, the Children's Museum of Philadelphia. Please Touch is bringing its Play Patrol to the mall for four weekends in November and December and is opening a satellite version of its Kids Store in the mall, where shoppers can find unique gift ideas including tickets and memberships to the popular children's museum.
Want to go Holiday Shopping while your kids are having fun?
Starting Monday, November 16th, visitors to The Little Treehouse will be able to experience a whole new concept in dining out for families with young kids!
Every year I go to Learning Express in Blue Bell for their Annual Thanksgiving Sale! Everything in the store is 20% off on Friday November 27th, Saturday November 28th, and Sunday November 29th.
Have some holiday shopping to get started? Now is a great time as Bloomingdales and some other popular stores are hosting their friends and family shopping events with 20-30% coupons. I was at the Willow Grove Bloomies today and saw some great items (like an single cup Keurig coffee machine, normally $139.99 which I got for less than $70!)
I love the Flour Pot in Ambler. They have gorgeous cookies and cupcakes and other fun baked items.
This weekend Fresh Market in Horsham will be holding their annual Taste of the Holidays Sampling Event. Stop in and stroll through their sampling stations where you'll find a broad selection of our holiday favorites including:
Grand Opening Event - Corner Bakery Cafe in Horsham, PA
I was just in the shopping center at Easton Road and 611 (where Barnes and Noble, and Marshalls are) and noticed a new A.C. Moore opening up soon. Not sure how exciting this is considering we have a Michaels across the street, but I guess a little friendly competition never hurt anyone! Opening soon!
Word from a very reliable source told me last night that the West Avenue Grill is opening another location in the current Carambola spot in the Dreshertown Shopping Center.
We love Romp and Roll. It's so clean and nice and a great place for the kids to play! They are having a Halloween Party on 10/31 which sounds like an awesome thing to do! (Unfortunately, we can't go, but it still sounds like fun anyway!) And one lucky child will win a free winter session! Awesome! See more details below!
The Gia Nicole Angel Foundation Invites You To:
I recently went to Bounce U in Horsham (which is great! See Joy's review about it from a few weeks ago!). The owner is hosting an event to benefit the Ted Lindeman Outreach Foundation (a wonderful organization developed to aid parents of young children who tragically or unexpectedly lose a spouse).
Fellow Blogger "Joy" has been telling me about the Sweater Mill for awhile now, and I finally got the chance to stop in over the weekend. What a great find! The store has both women's and men's clothing and accessories and many designer labels (that you find at more expensive stores) for much less.
For those of you who don't know, Beth Or's great Bingo event is tonight, at 6:30pm. It's an awesome fund raising event that is also a lot of fun and offers you a chance to win a lot of fabulous raffle and Bingo prizes. I got a sneak peek of everything this morning and the prizes look great!
Alison Two is turning 1 this month and as a result, hosting lots of fun specials and celebrations throughout the month. If you haven't been there yet, it's definitely worth a try. I really enjoyed my experience there, though it was definitely pricey (but with this month's specials, it's definitely a great time to go!).
It's Bagelicious offering bagels and much more, is now open in the Dreshertown Shopping Center, located at 1650 Limekiln Pike in Dresher. They serve Breakfast and Lunch from 7am-2pm everyday. I checked it out today and loved my turkey sandwich. (I am very picky with turkey and I loved theirs)! My son ate his cinnamon and raisin bagel right up! They offer catering and fresh baked sweets as well! They even have fresh baked challah (not available daily). It's Bagelicious is dedicated to serving the finest bagels like how they used to be made 50 years ago. Call 215-542-7777 to place your order!
Word has it that Michael Vick is moving to town.
I am a big Melting Pot fan. Cheese? Chocolate? Yes, please!
I love Flour Pot cookies. If you have never seen them or eaten them, you are definitely missing out. The Flour Pot is a cool little cookie boutique in Ambler where mom and daughter team Margie and Abby make all the cookies and other goodies by hand, decorate, and wrap beautifully. I use them as favors for parties and recommend them all the time!
I am so excited to share the news that The Cheesecake Factory now has a children's menu for kids 10 and under after decades of not offering one for smaller diners. There are about 13 entree choices such as pastas, chicken strips, pizza, sliders, grilled chicken, mac and cheese and more that range from approximately $3.95 to $6.95. My kids loved the mini corn dogs the other night! Each entree comes with a choice of beverage as well. They also have desserts starting at $1.00 for a scoop of ice cream and $2.00 for strawberries with cream. My family frequents the location in Willow Grove and we always ordered the chicken fingers appetizer for the kids. We were thrilled to see they have their own children's menu now and with so many different choices all very reasonably priced!
Take a look at their menu. They offer free popcorn which the kids loved! I thought the prices were very reasonable but then again I thought the burger size could have been better!
It's worth checking out. Hours are Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-8:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 PM-7:00 PM.
My friend Stacie told me last night that kids eat free on Sunday at KC's Alley in Ambler! I checked it out and it is true... after 12pm on Sunday, kids eat free! Not a bad deal! Check it out! (And here is the link to the kids menu)
I can't stand all of the kids stuff (toys, blankets, etc) taking up space in my house. So I am packing up a bunch of stuff and heading out to a new children's consignment boutique that opened up in Ambler!!!
Olly located at The Plaza Shops at the Plymouth Meeting Mall will have a Grand Opening Family Fun Day Celebration this Saturday, August, 29th from 10 AM - 2 PM. Check out the new store and support Don Tollefson's "Winning Ways" charity benefiting kids in the greater Philadelphia area. Entertainment will vary throughout the day but include the Elmwood Park Zoo, Makin' Music performances, Autographs with Philadelphia athletes and more. Call the store for more information at 610-825-3200.
I know there are a ton of bounce places around this area, but none as close as the new Bounce U that is opening September 19th. Located just off Horsham Road in the Babylon Business Campus (the same campus as Kids U), this should be a great new place for kids birthday parties and open bounce for the kids!
Exciting news from the Ambler Y! A groundbreaking celebration will be 9:30 a.m. Sept. 9 for the new Ambler Area YMCA on McKean Road between Norristown and Welsh roads. The future Y will include Olympic-size, warm and family fun pools; an indoor walking/running track; a health and wellness center; aerobic exercise studios; double gymnasium; community rooms and more.
So a few weeks ago I tried the new restaurant and wine bar, Dettera, in downtown Ambler. I was very excited to try this place as they were marketing it a "wine bar" (and I love wine flights) and it really looked beautiful inside. Though I had a nice time and a good meal, I found it to be expensive and not really a wine bar (just a restaurant with a traditional wine list)
stairs lounge section -- very cool area with a fireplace, couches, etc. I will definitely be back to hang out in this area with some drinks and apps.
My friend Susie, who knows everything and anything in the area (don't worry, she will be blogging on here soon!) told me about the Dresher Farm Market. Now I have lived in this area for over 3 years and haven't heard or been to this place until TODAY! OMG! I can't believe this!
In this economy when I hear the word free, I am very interested to hear what that entails! My kids love eating at Moe's located in the English Village Shopping Center in North Wales. With the purchase of an adult entree, kids eat free on Sundays!
The new Qdoba Mexican Grill is now open in the new Horsham shopping center on Welsh Road next to The Fresh Market which is opening next week. Check out their menu. It looks like it has all of the usual suspects that you would expect to see at a Mexican grill. Hopefully it will be worthwhile when I check it out. I will let you know!
