Girls: get yourself some OPI gel nails at Twinkling Nails

For years I have struggled with getting manicures. I love the way it looks for the first day or two, and then it chips, and I hate it. But today, at Twinkling Nails in Ambler, I tried out a brand-new product from OPI, called Axxium Gel nail polish. This soak-off gel nail polish is supposed to last 2 weeks with no chips. It applies like nail polish (painted on) and then dries in a UV drier while your nails are getting done. There are over 20 colors available (from light to dark to French), and when your manicure is finished, you can walk out with totally dry, chip-free nails! The whole process took about 45 minutes and costs $25. This is life-changing for me!!!

Twinkling Nails was great, and I enjoyed a (free) massage when my manicure was over. Plus, when you get the Gel nails, they give you a free Paraffin for your hands!

Check it out!

Need help around the house? Try the Home Show!

Today I got the opportunity to check out the Philadelphia Home Show downtown at the Convention Center. I love looking around at all of the companies and products out there to help me decorate, build, and improve on my home.

The show is running until January 24th downtown, and is a must-see if you are planning to do any work on your home in the next few years. From kitchen remodeling (granite, cabinetry, etc) to gutter guards, to Jacuzzi's, faux painting, and more, they are all at the Home Show to help you with your home needs.

I got the chance to pick up some new products (a cool mop, an interesting squeegee thing to remove pet hair, and some great dip mix... which by the way, you can sample your way through the Home Show with lots of dips and soups!) I also collected about seven phone numbers and websites of companies that I would be interested in talking to in the future about helping me with my house. There are also lots of opportunities to win lots of prizes all around the show!

I also enjoyed seeing the model rooms (a baby room, green room, spa, and very cool Man's Den) and got the chance to meet Ricky Bottalico (former Phillie and Comcast commentator). There are various celebrity appearances occurring throughout the show -- check out the schedule to see who else is coming soon.

If you plan to go, make sure you order your tickets online to save $3 per person. Enjoy!

Thanks to the Philadelphia Home Show for two admission tickets to experience the show!

Ambler YMCA -- free trial week and no joining fee!

I was at the Ambler Y yesterday and got some great info for anyone looking to sample a new gym. (It peaked my interest!)

During the month of January, anyone can give the Y a try for a free week. Simply call or go in to get your free week membership. They have a great schedule of classes (and I hear they are really good classes) and they also have an awesome room with moon bounces where you can workout while your kids play. (This is perfect for me, since my little one won't go to babysitting) I also love that each cardio machine in the workout room has a very nice TV. Makes working out a little easier!

Also, for the month of January, if you sign up to be a member your one-time joiner fee (normally $125 for a single parent family or $149 for a family) is waived!

For those interested in progress of the new Ambler Y, I was told that by this time next year they should be in their new building off of McKean Road. Yea!

Thursday 5pm -- Free Groceries at Whole Foods!!

Brick House Tavern + Tap -- a place for the guys

I have yet to check out the new Brick House Tavern and Tap in Willow Grove (Located off of 611 right by the Willow Grove Turnpike entrance, by Home Depot), but I have heard good things. This cool-looking spot is targeted to guys, with "brick house girls" (think Hooters), a "man food" menu, and lots of cool imported beer (plus table taps, and mini kegs). Plus there are tons of flat-screen TV's, perfect for all of the playoff football coming up.

The menu looks... well, interesting. And the beer menu looks pretty big. Check out the food menu and beer menu.
