Now Open: Seasons 52

Last night, I was really excited to check out Seasons 52 which just opened last week in King of Prussia. Seasons 52 is a fresh grill that has a seasonally inspired menu and award winning international wine bar. They prepare their meals using rustic cooking techniques such as grilling or roasting over open fires to enhance the flavor of each dish. Every week of the year, as different foods reach their seasonal peak of taste, Seasons 52 seeks out the best, market-fresh products such as vine-ripened heirloom tomatoes in summer, crisp apples in autumn, hearty root vegetables in winter and tender asparagus in spring. Each meal is nutritionally balanced to include the highest quality lean meats and seafood, good carbs and beneficial oils such as extra virgin olive oil.

Overall, I was very impressed with our dining experience. When we first arrived, we were greeted by complimentary valet parking which was a nice touch. The ambiance was beautiful, warm and inviting and the place was packed! We waited in the bar area for a short time before we were seated. Inside the bar area there was a live piano player that plays nightly. Once seated, we were taken back (in a good way) to see that the menu stated that ALL menu items were 475 calories or less! That was very extraordinary! Equally impressive was their tremendous international selection of 100 wines, including 60 offered by the glass!

Our waiter Tom was amazing! He knew everything we had asked him about the menu and when I asked him which Riesling wine was the sweetest, he pointed one out to me, but asked if I would prefer a Moscato (which is even sweeter). I happen to prefer Moscato over Riesling, but hadn't even noticed it on the wine list, and I was so impressed that he had suggested it instead. The Moscato was sweet and delicious.

My husband and I were with friends and we started with some Flatbreads that were out of this world! I could have just ate those all night! They have several different kinds to choose from. The menu had a little bit of everything, chicken, steak, pasta, fish and salads. We each ordered our own entree and thought the food was very good! I had a Char Crust Filet Mignon, which I really enjoyed.

Their desserts, called Mini Indulgences, were served in shot-size glasses making them the perfectly proportioned size! We had the Key Lime Pie and the Rocky Road which were so scrumptious!

Beyond the food itself, we were all taken back by the focus on customer service throughout the meal. The restaurant's General Manager, made his rounds to all of the tables in the restaurant, looking to ensure that everything about our meal was to our liking. Additionally, another manager in the restaurant also checked on us during our meal. At the end of our stay our waiter handed us his business card and said that anytime we come back to just ask for his section and there will be a table waiting for us. Now that is awesome customer service!! We will definitely be back again!

They do have a second floor for private events and there is a smaller room available on the first floor as well. Great to keep in mind when planning your next party!

Another sushi review at the new Vic in Springhouse

Today I got to try another new sushi restaurant, Vic Sushi Bar, that recently opened up (about 3 weeks ago) on Bethlehem Pike in Springhouse. Apparently Vic was originally located in Center City, and was known to be a great spot for sushi downtown.

This very small (I'm talking teeny) place in a small strip mall seemed to have a steady stream of take-out customers coming in and out. A group of friends, our kids, and I were the only ones sitting (and they didn't have much more room other than the sushi bar and a few other tables).

We tried the three-roll special, which was $10.95 for your choice of three basic rolls. I had yellowtail and scallion, spicy tuna, and sweet potato tempura. I have to say, all three of my rolls were delicious, and my friends agreed that their rolls were fresh and tasty.

The menu gets much more extensive with a number of specialty rolls, and it also includes a large sampling of Thai food as well.

I definitely forsee doing take-out from Vic Sushi Bar in the near future, and I recommend that you try it too!

Restaurant Review: Kumo in North Wales

Last week I had the opportunity to try the new Japanese/sushi restaurant, Kumo, in the English Village Shopping Center in North Wales. I am a big sushi eater and was skeptical of a new place, but I heard lots of positive reviews and wanted to try it out for myself.

The sushi was AWESOME. My three friends and I gobbled up every single bite with nothing to spare. We started off with edamame (perfectly cooked and salted) and then had both house and seaweed salads. Both were delicious. Next we tried a variety of your standard cooked and raw rolls, as well as a few rolls from their rather extensive (two-page) special roll list. All of the rolls were amazing and we couldn't stop raving. Our favorites were the Spicy Girl Roll and the Tropical Roll (with banana... I know, sounds weird, but it was great!) Check out the extensive menu.

The inside of the restaurant is very upscale and makes you feel like you are eating in Center City, not North Wales. And though the restaurant is a BYO, we were treated to a glass of complimentary wine each upon our arrival. Very nice!

Finally, I love that you can take advantage of their very reasonable lunch special. For $10, you get soup, salad, and two rolls of your choice. This is a great deal! (And keep a look out for your Clipper Magazine, where you can find $5 off, $10 off and 15% off coupons, as well as on the back of the Kumo to-go menu) Oh, and you can order online! How fab!

I will definitely be back to Kumo very soon.
